Here is a list of mythical creatures beginning with this letter and I am constantly gathering information from each continent and continually updating.
Anzu (Sumerian)
Anzu, is a monster in several Mesopotamian religions. He was conceived by the pure waters of the Abzu and the wide Earth, or as son of Siris. Anzu was depicted as a massive bird who can breathe fire and water, although it is alternately depicted as a lion-headed eagle. In 9th-century Kalhu, he was portrayed doing battle with the warrior god Ninurta, at an entrance to the most important shrine of the royal citadel. He appears in Sumerian literary works as a wild creature of the mountains.
Anzu was often depicted as a colossal bird with a wingspan so vast that it could blot out the sun. He had razor-sharp talons and a beak that could tear through stone. Anzu was also said to possess incredible intelligence, making him a valuable asset to the gods. He served as a messenger and gatekeeper for the deities, and his role was to guard the entrance to the heavenly abode of the gods.
