Haugbui (Nordic)
A haugbui was someone who was mostly confined to their burial mound. Unable, or unwilling to travel on, they remained in Midgard. When it comes to the haugbuar it seems that they could both be benign, or down right evil. In folktales, many haugbui have some type of connection to burial mounds. They are deceased loved ones who come back to life in their graves or tombs, with the primary purpose of protecting the treasures that they were buried with.
They are a type of revenant in a physical body, as opposed to something more ethereal like a ghost, and can put up a fight if provoked. They were said to be either "death-blue" or "corpse-pale". When found dead was described as "black as hell and bloated to the size of a bull". Lame-foot, when lying dormant, looked "uncorrupted" and also "was black as death and swollen to the size of an ox".
