Huldufolk (Icelandic/Faroese)
Huldufolk or hidden people are elves in Icelandic and Faroese folklore. They are supernatural beings that live in nature. They look and behave similarly to humans, but live in a parallel world. They can make themselves visible at will. Konrad von Maurer claimed that the only visible difference between normal people and outwardly human-appearing Huldufolk is, the latter have a convex rather than concave philtrum below their noses.
They are often described as human-like in appearance but possess supernatural powers, such as the ability to make themselves invisible. Some accounts suggest that they are actually the same size as humans, while others describe them as smaller, elf-like creatures. Regardless of their appearance, they are said to have a strong connection to the land and are considered protectors of the environment.
